Supporting Suriya, a Special Child from Cumilla

A Struggle Hidden in Silence

In the quiet corners of Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila lives a mother who has carried the weight of sorrow and strength on her fragile shoulders—Asma Khatun. A widow for over a decade, Asma has lived a life of hardship, but her greatest challenge—and blessing—comes in the form of her daughter, Suriya. A special child with extraordinary needs, Suriya has been her mother's world, her burden, and her light. With little income and no steady source of support, their lives were a silent battle—until the Save Earth Society stepped in.

A Mother’s Unseen Battle

Asma lost her husband ten years ago, plunging her into a sea of uncertainty. With no stable job or extended family support, she became the sole carer for Suriya. Raising a child with special needs requires more than love—it demands patience, therapy, nutrition, learning aids, and consistent care. In a rural context, these resources are scarce and expensive.
“I never dreamed of luxury,” Asma said, “just enough to give my daughter a chance to learn, smile, and live with dignity.”

Suriya: A Special Soul with Extraordinary Needs

Suriya is not an ordinary child. She sees the world through different eyes—curious, quiet, and full of wonder. Diagnosed with developmental delays, she requires special education tools, medical attention, and emotional support. While most children her age go to school and play in parks, Suriya’s routine is different—one that demands specialised care and focused nurturing.

Despite her limitations, Suriya loves to paint and listen to music. Her smile has become a symbol of hope in her village, inspiring others to be more compassionate and understanding of children with disabilities.

The Role of Save Earth Society: Spreading Light Where There Was Darkness

The turning point in Asma and Suriya’s life came when Save Earth Society identified their case during a community outreach programme. Recognising their urgent needs, the organisation began supporting them with monthly food packages, clean clothes, and educational materials suited to Suriya’s special needs. Their intervention transformed Suriya’s life from one of isolation to inclusion.

She now receives basic educational support at home, nutritional assistance, and the care she desperately needed. For Asma, the organisation’s help was more than material—it was emotional and moral empowerment.

A Call to Compassion: This Child Needs You

Save Earth Society continues to do its part; the road ahead for Suriya is long and uncertain. She needs more than one organisation’s help—she needs a community’s heart. Her future depends on continued care: better therapy, a special needs educator, healthy meals, and safe housing.

We invite compassionate individuals and organisations to join hands with us. Whether it's a small donation, a box of books, or a few hours of volunteer service—your support can shape the world of a child who only knows how to smile, despite her pain.

Let Us Not Look Away

Asma and Suriya’s story is not just one of struggle—it's one of courage, resilience, and hope. Let us not turn away from children who need a little more love and a little more help. With your support, Suriya can live a life filled with colour, care, and opportunity.

She doesn’t ask for much—only the right to grow with dignity. Will you be the reason she smiles tomorrow?
